Project #7 Panning

Project: Panning to create motion blur

Panning is an essential skill you need to show movement in your images. When done well, the main subject stays in focus and the background is blurred. As with any skill it takes time and practice to master. For this week practice panning on several different subjects. If you have never attempted panning before, start with an easy subject like someone walking or running. Once you have that under control, move on to a bicycle, cars or motorcycles. Work with different shutter speeds to see what works best for you. If you have experience with panning you can try using very slow shutter speeds. Try to find the slowest shutter speed you can use to blur the background yet keep your main subject in focus.

As always, once you have made some images for this project feel free to share your results in our Facebook Group.
